From the Telegraph of 2 Oct 2024: FISHER William Francis "Bill", peacefully at home on 26th September, aged 89. Devoted husband to Alexandra and beloved father of Nicholas, Davina, Iona, and his seven grandchildren. Funeral at 11 a.m., 18th October, Berkshire… No flowers…

He was s of Brig Arthur Francis FISHER CBE DSO 1899-1972 and Margaret Charlotte 1904-86 d of Gen Sir George Macaulay KIRKPATRICK KCB KCSI 1866-1950 scion of that Irish gentry family of Donacomper and Mary Lydia DENNISTOUN 1870-1945. He m 1962 Alexandra b 1940 d of Paul GOUDIME-LEVKOVITSCH 1910-84 and Sheila Violet 1908-86 d of Charles Fitzroy Ponsonby MCNEILL 1866-1955 (3xgt gs of 1^st Baron TALBOT OF HENSOL 1685-1737 (who was f of 1^st Earl TALBOT 1710-1782), as well 2xgt gs of 1^st Baron PONSONBY 1744-1806, 4xgt gs of 3^rd Duke of DEVONSHIRE 1698-1755, 2xgt gs of 1^st Baron SOUTHAMPTON 1737-1797 (who was 2xgt gs of King CHARLES II),  etc, etc) and Constance 1881-1963 d of Sir Oswald MOSLEY 4^th Bt 1848-1915 and Elizabeth Constance WHITE 1852-1938, and had a son and two daus as above.

Brig Arthur Francis Fisher was the son of Maj John Francis ("Jack") FISHER (21 III 1868 - 20 XI 1901) and his wife (married 1898), Eleanor Mary STANIER (5 V 1869 - 21 V 1958), a sister of Sir Beville STANIER, 1st Bt (12 VI 1867 - 15 XII 1921).

She was the fourth daughter of James Frederick DENNISTOUN, QC (26 X 1841 - 25 XI 1886) and his wife (married 20 I 1864), Katherine Adele KIRKPATRICK (13 III 1841 - 14 II 1927), daughter of Judge Stafford Frederick KIRKPATRICK, QC (12 XII 1809 - 26 VII 1858) and his wife, Henrietta Isabella FISHER (27 III 1811 - 8 III 1887).

 

Judge Stafford KIRKPATRICK was a brother of Thomas KIRKPATRICK, QC (25 XII 1805 - 26 III 1870), who was married in 1829 to Helen FISHER (31 III 1807 - 24 VIII 1874), a sister of Judge Kirkpatrick's wife. Thomas Kirkpatrick and his wife were the parents of Sir George Airey KIRKPATRICK (13 IX 1841 - 13 XII 1899), the father, by his wife (married 1865), Frances Jane MACAULAY (3 V 1845 - 20 I 1877), of Gen Sir George Macaulay Kirkpatrick.

 

Sir George Macaulay Kirkpatrick and his wife were therefore second cousins twice over (N.B. their grandmothers were from a Fisher family which was unrelated to their son-in-law's family).
