VAVASOUR, Charles Edward. Passed away peacefully, at Bruce McLaren Retirement Village on Wednesday 17 July 2024, aged 70 years. Beloved husband of Gemma, father-in-law of Archie, cherished father of Antonia and grandpa of Elliot. Loving brother of Mary, Alathea, Rollo, Frank, and Peter. Requiem Mass for Charles will be held at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 24 Picton Street, Howick on Tuesday, 23 July 2024 at 11am.

He was the son of Henry Philip Bede VAVASOUR (1907-1997), scion of the Vavasour Baronets, being descended from the 3rd son of the 1st Baronet (actually a Stourton being the son of the 17th Baron Stourton and having changed his name to Vavasour on inheriting the estates of his cousin the 7th Baronet Vavasour of the 1628 creation, ext 1826) and his 1st w (m 1949) Rosamond Mary RIDDIFORD (d 1973). According to DPB he was unm without issue but it would seem that Debrett's may have lost touch with this branch of the family. DPB spells his sister's forename as "Aletha"
