Hugh Stephen Kenneth PEPPIATT (18 VIII 1930 - 31 XII 2016) was married in 1960 to Claire DAVIDSON (29 I 1937 - 9 I 2019), the daughter of Ian Douglas DAVIDSON, CBE (27 X 1901 - 30 VII 1989), president of the Shell oil company in Canada, and his first wife, Claire Louise GEMPP (1911 - 3 II 1937). Mr and Mrs Peppiatt had three sons, two daughters, and twenty grandchildren.

 

Hugh Peppiatt was the elder son of Sir Leslie Ernest PEPPIATT, MC (7 XI 1891 - 15 XI 1968), President of The Law Society, 1958-59, and his wife (married 1927), Cicely Mallyn HOWSE (13 VII 1905 - 3 III 1987). Sir Leslie's brother, Maj Sir Kenneth Oswald PEPPIATT, KBE, MC and Bar (25 III 1893 - 12 V 1983), was Chief Cashier of the Bank of England from 1934 to 1949.
