From the Times of 27 Jan 2026: JACKSON Sir Roland Bt. Died suddenly on 10th January while winter climbing in the Cumbrian mountains which he loved. Beloved husband, father and grandfather. Funeral service at Lanercost Priory on 5th February at 2pm and afterwards at Naworth Castle. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Patterdale and Keswick Mountain Rescue Teams. He was s of Sir William Thomas JACKSON 8 Bt 1927-2004 (gs of 10 Earl of CARLISLE 1867-1912 etc) and Gillian Malise 1929-2009 d of John William STOBART MBE 1898-1986 scion of that gentry family of Farlham Ghyll and Doris Rosemary 1899-1973 d of Godfrey Acheson Thornhaigh FOLJAMBE 1869-1942 scion of that gentry family of Osberton and Judith Frances 1873-1955 d of Fitzherbert WRIGHT 1841-1910 sometime head of that gentry family f/o Yeldersley and Charlotte Rudolphine Louise VON BECKMAN 1847-1932 of Holzendorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He m 1977 Nicola Mary d of Prof Peter Reginald DAVIS of Polvean, St Mawes, Cornwall, and had three sons. His eldest son succeeds him.
