From the Telegraph of 2 Sep 2025: FEUCHTWANGER Dr Edgar Feuchtwanger OBE, historian, husband of the late Primrose, much loved father of Antonia, Adrian and Judith and grandfather of George, Thomas and Peter, died peacefully at home on 22nd August. The funeral will be at St Stephen's, Sparsholt, near Winchester, in September.
He was s of Ludwig FEUCHTWANGER 1885-1947 and Erna Rosina RHEINSTROM 1887-1979. He m 1962 reg Q2 Devon Primrose Mary ESSAME 1934-2012. His dau Antonia Mary b 1963 reg Q4 Devon m 1989 Simon b 1962 s of Anthony Dawson COX and Pamela Theresa Marygold b 1938 d of Egerton Gervase Edward HARCOURT VERNON 1899-1976 (3xgt gs of 1st Baron VERNON 1710-80, etc) and Norma Marion HATHERLEY c1911-2001, and had three sons as above.
Feuchtwanger's ancestors originated from the Middle Franconian city of Feuchtwangen which, following a pogrom in 1555, expelled all its resident Jews. Some of the expellees subsequently settled in Fürth where they were called the Feuchtwangers, meaning those from Feuchtwangen. Feuchtwanger's [great] grandfather Elkan moved to Munich in the middle of 19th century.
