He was s of Lt-Col Gerald Edward COKE 1907-90 (gs of 2 Earl of LEICESTER 1822-1909, as well gs of 1 & only Viscount BURNHAM 1862-1933) and Patricia 1916-95 d of Rt Hon Sir Alexander George Montagu CADOGAN 1884-1968 (s of 5 Earl CADOGAN 1840-1915 by his w a d of 2 Earl of CRAVEN 1809-66 and Lady Emily Mary GRIMSTON 1815-1901 d of 1 Earl of VERULAM 1775-1845 and his w a dau of 1 Earl of LIVERPOOL 1729-1808) and Lady Theodosia Luisa Augusta ACHESON 1882-1977 d of 4 Earl of GOSFORD 1841-1922 and Lady Louisa Augusta Beatrice MONTAGU DBE 1856-1944 (sometime Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen ALEXANDRA) d of 7 Duke of MANCHESTER 1823-90. He m 1980 (div 1987) Karen E JOHNSON b 1951 reg Q4 Cambs, no issue.
