From the Telegraph of 18 July 2024: STRANG STEEL Caroline (née Carter) died on 14th July 2024 at home, aged 87. Devoted wife of the late Robert, loving mother of David and Richard and adored grandmother of Alice, Charlie, Olivia, Miranda and Victor. Funeral Service at Christ Church, Kincardine O'Neil on Wednesday 24th July at 2 p.m.

She was d of Lt-Col (William) Hugh CARTER of Tain, Ross-shire and _ RANDALL. She m 1958 Robert Stanley 1934-2011 s of Sir Samuel STRANG STEEL 1st Bt 1882-1961 and Hon Vere Mabel CORNWALLIS 1889-1964 d of 1st Baron CORNWALLIS 1864-1935 and Mabel 1865-1957 d of Oswald Peter LEIGH 1834-76 sometime head of that gentry family of Belmont (and gs of Sir Oswald MOSLEY 2nd Bt 1785-1871, as well gt gs of Sir Edward EVERY 8th Bt 1754-86) and Frances 1835-1908 d of George Ayton WHITAKER c1807-1877 of Knoddishall, Suffolk by his 24 Aug 1830 m (Beccles, Suffolk) Anna Maria FARR c1805-1887 (gd of Sir Thomas GOOCH 3rd Bt 1720-81), and had two sons as above.

Her son David is, by my information (from peerage.com), married to Fiona Louise Legge, daughter of Dr. Richard Legge, of Edinburgh. Any clues of his relation, if any, to the Legge Earls of Dartmouth?
