I figured this for a simple Peerage News announcement e-mail, only it isn't.
The Sunday (March 13) Washington Post contained this brief announcement:
Rachel E. Moore & Lt. Sean C. Moore
The engagement is announced between Sean, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Nelson Moore Jr. of Washington, D.C., and Rachel, eldest daughter of Sir D. Cameron Moore, Bt., and Lady Moore, of Atlanta, Georgia.

// I had no idea who Sir D. Cameron Moore was but I thought I could find him in Burke's Peerage. No such luck. Wikipedia lists the Moore baronets of Ross Carbery with a likely prospect, Sir Douglas Cameron Alexander Moore, 13th Baronet, born 1970, succeeding a Sir Jerry Moore, 12th Baronet (1942-2010).
Googling, I found several mentions of the Moore baronets of Ross Carbery. The 11th baronet, Sir Thomas O'Connor Moore (1845-1926), died in "extreme poverty," leaving no known heir. A Dod's Peerage listing for Sir Thomas, while living, said his heir would be "the eldest male descendant of Charles, son of the 9th Baronet, who died in the United States, leaving several sons."
I suppose Jerry and D. Cameron are descendants of Charles. I don't pretend to be an expert on baronetcies but isn't there an official procedure for recognition of one's claim to a title? Roll of Baronets, etc.?

Do not know the answer, but at least found this obituary of Sir Jerry Moore, 12th baronet, mentioning relatives, parents and even the paternal grandfather.

Thanks. An interesting and, er, unusual, obituary, considering that one must pay by the word in a paid notice.

Some interesting discussion of this family here:

http://alison-stewart.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/the-moore-family-of-rosscarbery-part-two.html

It seems contemporary sources made reference to a successor in the form of Charles Moore/ one of his apparently numerous sons, resident in America. Leigh Rayment doesn't have anyone listed past Thomas O'Connor Moore, for what that's worth, so I suppose being they're over in the U.S. it's not a top priority for them. What I thought was a little odd, just glancing at the wikipedia page for them, is that Jerry Moore's father didn't put himself forward as the next baronet on Thomas O'Connor Moore's death in 1926, given that Jerry Moore seemingly wasn't born until 1942; did they not know of their link to the baronets? Did someone tell them later on, or was there some other reason for the gap? Who knows, but it's somewhat interesting to wonder.

Sorry- to clarify: 'having the current baronet (if, given he's not on the roll, that is what he ought to be considered to be) included on the official roll of the baronetage' is that which doesn't appear to be a top priority for them. That sentence might make a little more sense now!

Came across this recently. The baronetcy is not listed at all on the Official Roll, which suggests the Standing Council consider it completely extinct. Nor is it listed at the foot of the Kershaw analysis which lists those baronetcies "currently retained on the Roll but to which there is no clear or undisputed successor".  Surely if an attempt had been made to claim the title that showed some valid claim (even if it could not prove it was the undisputed senior claim), then it would have been retained?

Came up with this using an Ancestry search:

Daniel James Moore m. Molly Belle Beard. His ancestors are mentioned in several Ancestry genealogies, but I am not convinced the dates are correct, as they all mention him as Daniel Jefferson Moore. It certainly is Daniel James Moore. She was apparently born at Elba, Coffee County, Alabama, 20 July 1896, and died Crestview, Okaloosa County, Florida, 19 July 1940. She remarried by 1930 Aljourney E. Moody. Gravestone says Mollie Beard Moody. She and Daniel, who is said to have lived 1877-1937 clearly did get divorced, unless his dates are incorrect. Above obituary of Howard is unfortunately not quite clear about it. Can't find them in the 1920 US Census unfortunately, which might have claryfied a bit.
