Searching for "Richard Sheffield, Oban", a Google search result begins:

"West Coast Today
https://www.westcoasttoday.co.uk › sheffield-191224
SHEFFIELD – On, Tuesday December 10, 2024, at the Vale of Leven Hospital, Alexandria after a struggle with Alzheimer's, aged 80 years, Richard,..."

The direct link is https://www.westcoasttoday.co.uk/announcements/sheffield-191224, but it is behind a paywall.

An "AI Overview" adds the following: "Richard Sheffield died at the Vale of Leven Hospital in Alexandria on December 10, 2024, following a battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 80 years old at the time of his passing and is survived by his wife, Mary, as well as his children and grandchildren. His funeral service was held at Cardross Crematorium in January 2025, with donations directed to Alzheimer Scotland."

Query whether this is Richard Charles Sheffield, born 1944, of the Sheffield Baronets, who, per the 2019 Debrett's lived in Oban, which is about 75 miles away from the Vale of Leven Hospital. His third wife is said to be named "Mary". I understand that "Sheffield" may be a not uncommon name.

This is of course irrelevant to Peerage News, and likely of no interest to anyone else but me, but as I was working on this one, with the relationship to Oban, I kept remembering the time I spent a couple nights in Oban, fifty years ago this month. I really enjoyed the town.
