From the Times of 3 May 2019: MASEFIELD Jennifer Mary MBE (née Trowell) died suddenly on 29th April 2019, aged 79. Jenny was literally the lifelong soul mate of Thorold, wonderful mother of Nigel, Sally and Roger, adored Granny of seven, and proud Great Granny of two. A inspirational, multitalented, creative person. Author, needlewoman and consummate diplomatic hostess. Compassionate, caring, whether for family or deeply involved with charities and always practical. Cheerful, with an infectious smile, even through fifteen years of Alzheimer's. Memorial service in Brockenhurst, in the early summer.

She was d of Rev Dr Hubert Carey TROWELL OBE (1904-89) of Prebendall House, Stratfor-sub-Castle, Salisbury, by his 1929 m (reg Q3 Middlesex) to Kathleen Margaret MBE (1904-85) d of Alfred John SIFTON (1868-1957) by his 1893 m (reg Q2 London) to Alice Elizabeth LORD (1867-1946). She m 1962 (John) Thorold MASEFIELD CMG (b 1939), sometime Governor and C-in-C of Bermuda and head of the gentry family of that name formerly of Rosehill, s of Geoffrey Bussell MASEFIELD (1911-2001) and Mildred Joy Thorold (1913-2007, d of Arthur George Lidden ROGERS (1864-1944) of Mount Skippett, Ramsden, Oxfordshire by his c1909 m (reg Q1 Kent) to Emily Norah MILLER-HALLETT (1885-1974)), and had two sons and two daus.
