I recently purchased the Passport 40 hull #11 and need to replace the traveler car. I assume it is original. There are no manufacturer's markings.
Does anyone know if there is a traveler car on the market that fits the original track?
Thank you.

That's a "Nicro-Fico", I believe.  Sets of wheels running on an X-track?

You may find that many Passporters have old cars lying around as they have changed to other systems.

Guido from Garhauer Marine in LA replaced my track with new materials. I sent the old track to them and they duplicated the old track with the bend and all the holes lined up for install. No more hang-ups with the track sticking in place. The hard part is removing the old track. Use an impact drill or sledge hammer with hand held impact drive. All the bolts came out without breaking but it can take lots of patience. Cost was less than $600

I also had Guido exactly copy my old traveler bar. I brought my old
traveler and the SS brackets, as well as some drawings and photos, to
the factory in Upland (LA). The new bar didn't fit. I took it back to
the factory on my way back north, and we double- and triple-checked
everything. It was an _exact_ copy. I took it back down to the boat in
Mexico again last November. It didn't fit. I have no idea why not, but
it just didn't. A couple of the bolt holes on one side were 1/8" or
slightly more off. I did manage to get the new bar installed, but
installing it turned into a Big Frickin' Expensive Project with lots of
welding, drilling (SS brackets, bar, and into the towers the traveler
sits on), tapping, and even some 404 epoxy.

Yeah, getting the old bar off was a drag. I used a Makita impact driver
with a big screwdriver bit. Got all but two of the old machine screws
out laboriously but more or less straightforwardly. Had to drill the
heads off the remaining two and get the stumps out with patience,
penetrating oil, big vice grips, and brute force. May all slotted head
screws, of any size, somehow be banished from this earth.

For what it's worth:

While it's a bigger hit to the pocket, an all new system is a joy to work with.

We replaced our original Lewmar with a Garhauer track and car with no problems and very happy with the result.

You may be able to get a replacement or parts for the old one from RigRite, but don't do it.  That X track is a POS, just replace the whole thing.

The 47 cabin top is wider and has quite a bit more curve to it. So I went one step further and made risers for the ends and now have a straight track with a very smooth car/bearing system and 4:1 purchase.

I didn't explain very well -- I did get an all-new system from Garhauer,
a notch or two up the scale in burliness from the original system as the
new one isn't fastened to the deck all the way across but rather
attached only at the towers or pylons on either side. Cost a bit of
money in absolute terms, but IMHO Garhauer gear provides great value.
Love the system, love the hardware, love Garhauer stuff in general. Just
the installation didn't work out, for some reason. I don't hold Guido at
fault -- he did exactly and seemingly flawlessly what he said he'd do.
Neither I nor a couple of friends who helped with the installation can
puzzle out why it didn't fit.

Oh well. Some ya win, some ya lose, and some get rained out. It's in
now, and the boat's almost ready to go cruising again.

I am a big fan of Garhauer.  It's hard to match the hole pattern and curvature of the existing track, I have found.  Were I to do it again, I'd send the old track (or a template of it) to Harken to have them bend a length of their "big boat" track with variable spacing.

I sent them calculated measurements last time, and ended up having to shim the track in the center.  Not a big deal.

Also, a NIGHTMARE to get the track off the spray hood.

I purchased a brand new harken car. They will work on the older track. You just have to talk to harken and order the right size roller ball bearings and special loader. Works fine.

Which model car did you buy?

Harken
1ea T3241B 32mm BB CB traveller w/shackle.

1ea HBB1 big boat traveller car loader.

Basically you have to reverse transform the captured bearing car into a loose ball bearing car by removing the bearing spring clip holding the balls captured. Once the spring is removed the balls are loose and will fall out in your hands. They made it this way so it will still fit the old traveller bar profile. Thus you will need the High beam bearing loader HBB1 to keep the balls from falling out all over the place when you try to slide everything back onto the track. I actually used blue tape very lightly to keep the balls from falling out when I loaded it onto the car. Once the car the balls are captured on the beam... they cannot get away. Just remember to never take the car off without a cup to catch the balls as they drop out... I lost a few so make sure you get extra balls!!!

I like the concept of keeping the track and just replacing the car, at least my bank account does. Did you also replace the track ends? It would be nice to go to a 4:1 purchase so it wouldn't be such a tug of war, I'm not sure that would be possible with the old ends.

Any chance you could post some pictures of the setup?

Hey Guys,
So am I understanding correctly that the Harken car fits the old original Nicro Fico X track?  If so that is quite a great breakthrough.

Or, are you talking about old Harken trank????

Review my 8/20/2015 post under Looking for Mainsheet Track Car and End Controls
This post has all of the information on the car, and how to adapt to the older harken track.

It'a all there. I have the curved Harken 1-1/4" Hi-Beam Old Track. I have no idea what the Nicro Fico X track is...

It sounds like Matthew's boat had a Harken track to begin with or installed at some point.  My guess would be the latter.  I doubt that the Harken car fits the old Nicro-Fico tracks.

If your car looks like the ones on this page, then you have the Nicro-Fico system.

The first problem with them is that the track gets scored over time so that the car doesn't run smoothly. The second and final nail in the coffin is that the wheels that ride on the track are attached to the car with large stainless rivets.  The heads of these rivets break and it's game over.  I had two out of 6 wheels that were broken and loose, and another on the way.

Somewhere I've got a 4 wheel car for the original x beam original Passport track on a Passport 40.

I also have a pair of original end stops with intact sheaves.
