Dear Group,
Our P47, aft cockpit Hull #008 (1985), has 2 diesel fuel tanks that appear to be original, and made of steel - 50 +/- gallons under settee and 30 +/- gallons under starboard pilot berth.
The 52 Gallon tank under the settee has to be replaced. It was installed with insulating foam in the areas that abut bulkheading/stringers - port and aft. This area, close to the bilge, is prone to moisture and water accumulation, and this larger tank is rusting at an increasing rate.
Does anyone have experience in the removal and replacement of this tank, and who may be able to advise as to best methods of removing the same?
