Hi David,That obviously isn't glassed in and is probably a more common way of doing it these days, though not necessarily better. I assume that because it uses a traditional packing gland instead of the gaiter style many newer boats use today, it is below the waterline. It looks a bit crusty to me and I would definitely replace that hose and the clamps if you are already hauled out. You might get a quote from the yard for having one glassed in instead of using that hose setup. I haven't seen a 470 and how the rudder bearings are set up, but the hose can probably be changed out without pulling the rudder if all the stuff above it is removable like on a 47. You might call Passport Yachts ahead of time to verify the hose size and suggested grade to make sure you have it on hand before you haul, it might be an odd metric size that isn't easy to find.For reference, here is the stuffing box and middle bearing on a 47
