Shaft log built into keel?

Hi folks,

I needed to do a amall repair on the outboard end of my shaft log and realised it is built into the keel as opposed to what seems to be the more common way of having an actual tube glassed onto the keel. Is that the case with all P40s?

Also, does anybody have a photo of the inboard end of the shaft log?
