old head rebuild

I think we have the origional head installed in the early 80s, I am
in Idaho so cant look at it but it has a long handle on the side
attached to a labarynth of plastic parts, does anyone have a guess at
what type this is and where i might get the rebuild kit

Usually is the Rariatan PH1 or PH11 rebuilt kit. West Marine, or Defender would have them. There is a small and a full rebuild kit. If your rebuilding be sure to get the full kit which includes the washer and seal for the shaft. If the shaft is worn it will probably still leak, if leaking. At some point it makes sense to purchase the full pump and just bolt it on. I did after a few rebuild kits. Hope this helps.

I really agree with Johnny B - buying a new ,
complete pump from Raritan is the best. Buying it piecemeal isn't any savings
and is a WHOLE LOT more messy.

100% agree.
I rebuilt the old raritan twice, with icky leaky results. If you don't buy a new head, at least a new pump is a plan.
Rebuilding the new pump from time to time is not bad. Rebuilding an old one is just sad.
And more expensive.

It's actually a nice stout unit. Better than a lot of other manual
marine heads I've used. A lot stronger pump and handle situation than
the one in the rear quarter berth. I saw a parts kit for it at West
Marine but I'd already filled my cart with parts for something else
that was already broken.
