Schools Without the Arts, is this the future for Long Island? The
next Long Island Arts Alliance (LIAA) Arts Education Roundtable
focuses on Mobilizing Public Support. The idea is to stop "Preaching
to the Choir" and start promoting Long Island's excellent arts
education programs where it counts - to local businesses, our
legislators and those among the general public who see the arts as
"extra curricular."
Those of us who share a deep understanding of the importance of arts
education must find better ways to spread the word. All stakeholders
are encouraged to attend including professional arts and culture
presenters, public school arts educators, and providers of
supplemental arts programming such as Arts Councils and BOCES
programs.
Join us November 16 at Farmingdale State College as singer, songwriter
Lucy Kaplansky shares the impact of the arts in her life and her hopes
for her daughter's generation. Then, an expert panel provides tools,
techniques and strategies on marketing, promoting, and arts education
advocacy.
The LIAA Arts Education Roundtable is a free program of the Long
Island Arts Alliance, produced in cooperation with the NYS Board of
Regents and made possible by Long Island Community Foundation and
Farmingdale State College.
