Timo,

We have been evolving in the past 66 years -  into one of the most corrupt nations of the world.
I think the days of evolution are over - the country is ripe for a revolution - of one kind or the other.

If Arvind Kejriwal brand of revolution fails us, next will be the Maoist - Naxalite revolution within another decade all over the country - it seems to be spreading already.

YPS,

Do u have any immediate solution in mind for this education by lottery?

Long-term solution to Quality school education would be to invite & facilitate private-sector entry into school education & let market forces control the market. Govt schools have largely failed - Navodaya/Sarvodaya schools have made some difference but largely pvt sector schools are in big demand.

How would you regulate admissions to these few quality schools in Delhi?

Wadhawan, a leader like Arvind has not arisen in India for sometime!

Evolution or Revolution, he is our ONLY hope for a Corruption free (?) India.
Should we all not support him in all ways, insignificant mistakes notwithstanding ??

Chandra: My read---we in India prefer an evolution-AAP is leaning towards a revolution. Scary?  Timo Wadhawan.

I see THREE groups of people here re their orientation towards AAP:

1. Diehard AAP supporters who refuse to see anything wrong in what is unfolding before us.

2. Dis-illusioned erstwhile AAP supporters who feel let down by the present trend of events.

3. AAP- bashers who are either die-hard congressi or BJP- Modi supporters who are at their best right now & rub their hands gleefully at every new episode - they are having a good time now while it lasts.

It is the category 1 & 2 that are important for AAP to address & cater to.

AAP is a young political party who got unto power on a single-point anti-corruption program, basically on the strength of its young cadre with no experience, no ideological base & NO LEADERS, except for Arvind & his close Associates. The Delhi Electoral victory was unexpected, unprecedented & perhaps even undesirable. If you look at the profile of the AAP Delhi candidates, one sees a certain shortage of capability & the only quality criteria was honesty, a track record of service to the party in its anti-corruption crusade & no-crime record - which would hardly translate into governance-capability. The intelligencia did not give the party a chance of victory - they did not want to be candidates but voted for the party, hoping, not to win, but for a symbolic support. The Tsunami-like wave (that Arvind used to talk about but we were not sure of) actually did take place. THE REST IS HISTORY.

The victory changed it all - the numbers were truly magical - AAP 28, BJP 32, Cong 8, Indp 2. In normal times, BJP would have cobbled a majority - it had to manage only 4 out of 10 possibilities (+ maybe others from AAP). That would have been the best scenario for AAP – to sit in opposition & LEARN GOVERNANCE. They did not jump into power when the opportunity was dropped into their lap by BJP – they took their own sweet time & a unique referendum. They came to power with visible Public support of this decision – the power would naturally be a great mor
