Here are two very specific Pilot Projects where an ACTION PLAN to showcase Nation-Building thru technology is possible.

 

1. MICRO-ENERGY NETWORK - Vigyan Ashram's proposal "to create 'Renewable Energy Enterpreneur Network' or 'Village level Entrepreneur' (VLE) by training 150 rural youth in sales and service of patented 'Human & Solar Powered Hybrid lighting system'.  Lamps (with the option of cell phones, laptops) can be charged by 2 sources: solar PV panel or Chakra pedal generator (useful on rainy days when solar does not work). With 12 minutes of pedaling, one can get 4 hours of bright light. It does not need external lubrication, can be used even by children and does not need frequent replacement of batteries."

 

This technology has been benchmarked by selection in Development Marketplace in Bhopal on 1st May 2013 and would get the coveted award of $100,000. The products are avilable commercially & an entrepreneur can set up Village or cluster level Micro-energy Network for mutiple benefits for rural development.

2. MASS - HOUSING - Ashwani Dhalwala (IITD Civil) has proposed Construction of Manufactured Housing : specific projects tailored to the needs of both urban and rural populations - specific common solutions which can take advantage of economies of scale. The details have been worked out by him & he wants serious hands-on participation and commitment for execution.
