Dear Friends,

Tomorrow is the polling day - we will also stop our "Political Debate" here by tomorrow 5 pm. Till then, let us express our Political views freely & frankly, even on this forum.

If AAP enters double figures ie 10 - 15 seats, it would mean 15 - 20 % of total seats - it would come through a voting percentage of 15-35 % in almost each of the constituencies with a total vote share of somewhere around 20-25% for the entire state. That would tantamount to a decent performance for a year-old party relying on Public Support only with no big corporate support or corrupt vote bank politics. Anything better would be a victory - pollsters are even accepting a possibility of an AAP victory - BJP majority is another possibility but a congress rout is on the cards. Congress regaining power would be a surprise. What happens if a hung assembly ???????

The media has almost gone viral with AAP- today's T O I headlines :
LAST LAP: AAP upbeat,BJP hopeful, Shiela soldiers on.
The new fledging party has received more Newspaper & TV bytes than the old stalwarts BJP & the Congress - & mind you, it was not captive or bought Media by any count. Even independent polls give AAP a fair number of seats (I do not remember the figures off-hand & no point is researching it). Arvind challenging the incumbent CM & her Govt Machinery is a bold & audacious step - instead of choosing a safe seat for himself - & has given a lot of strength & Courage to the party. Some of the candidates are unknown faces - really AAM AADMI & have been chosen perhaps for symbolism rather than their winnability - the important fact being that there is NO CRIMINAL BACKGROUND , even if some of them are Congress/BJP/BSP "rejects" - they could not get the tickets from these parties for extraneous reasons but were otherwise clean & competent..

The party has accepted donations from Public & ALL DONATIONS ARE REPORTED & ACCOUNTED FOR ON THEIR WEBSITE by Individual donor names, whether is cash or by cheques/online. My personal experience is that when I went to donate to the party on Nov 30 at Malviya Nagar candidate Somnath Bharti's party office, my cheque was returned with apologies that
"we have stopped accepting donations now that we have reached our target of 20 crores - pl contact us again after the elections when we would go & prepare for 2014" - & this is NOT A STORY, a real & recent incident.

Anna, Swami Ramdev, Kiran Bedi, JP in South & a number of practising  Professionals, retired bureaucrats are people who can bring  ethics & honesty back into Public Life. They may choose to take the plunge directly into electoral politics or may decide to jump onto the bandwagon later as it gathers speed & becomes an indomitable force or may just stand by the wayside & wonder what happened. It is all upto the individuals, their priorities in life & most of all THEIR EGOS.

We, IITians, are standing by the wayside while people like Arvind Kejriwal & Somnath Bharti have taken the plunge. The least we can do is to cheer them on, vote for them, use our Yahoogroups, Googlegroups & social media contacts to appeal to our friends & relatives in Delhi to exercise our voting rights & DO IT WITH HONESTY & INTEGRITY when we see a clean alternative emerging before us.

Dear Chandra Sir,
All opinion polls (except the one done by AAP) have put BJP as number ONE with 29, 32, 40 seats, Congress number two with 18, 20, 25 etc and AAP is struggling to reach even the double digit mark.

Arvind has chosen the short cut method to reach to the CM chair. He started accepting cash payments through Kumar Vishwaas, while earlier they had said only cheque/direct tranasfers will be accepted. They accepted the rejected candidates of BJP, Congress and even SP and BSP.

After he floated AAP, initially they promised all the ethics but as elections approached nearer, they started compromising as the main objective was to win the election by hook or by crook and then remove corruption.

Sir, the means are equally important to achieve a noble goal.
I still feel Arvind is a great force, a highly capable man, an honest man. But he needs an Anna ji. Arvind, Anna ji and Ramdev ji should join hands to change the mind set of the people. They have the power to infuse ethically good people in all political parties. If they start fighting elections themselves, they will be doomed.

They should hold the strings of politics in their hands. Collectively, they can do the role of Kautilya.

Agar Chanakya khud Patliputra ki Gadhi par baith jata to Bharat ka beda garak ho jata.

Is samay Chndragupta ka role Narendra Modi kar sakte hain. Anna ji, Arvind and Ramdev ji can do the role of Chanakya and ensure that NaMo gets 2/3rd majority and then see where this India goes.

Hi Friends,

Thanks for responding to my 'political' mail. Most IITians do not feel POLITICS deserves their precious time or interest. It is too dirty for their clean minds & conscience & hence they should stay away - the problem here is that POLITICS does not stay awy from us - it is the fountainhead of all that happens in the country & AFFECTS US ALL IN ALL SPHERES OF LIFE.

Anyways, 2014 is at least 6 months away. Lets talk of DELHI & Dec 4 now.

Arvind & the nation need your support. It is NOW OR NEVER. DELHI ELECTIONS WILL DECIDE THE FATE OF THE NATION.

Friends,

Let us overlook our self-imposed discipline for a short time of say next 4 days now & discuss politics up front as there is nothing much else of Nation-Building Importance happening in this group to synergize with at the moment. This issue would al least draw a few of us to one corner of this political circus & synergize our maximum potential.

It is not everyday that we have elections & here is an election with a difference - perhaps it is for the first time after JP's call for " Total Revolution" which was really a reaction to the oppressive Emergency Regime - that a genuine Jan Andolan has been able to make a dent in Corrupt & Crime-ridden National Politics. It is time we stopped trying to be or professing to be a-political on this platform - it is "Now or Never" to bring about a change we all wish to see.

Dear Friends,

Can you devote a few hours today, to campaign for AAP? Thousands of volunteers are doing this, all across Delhi and outside. These few hours of your time, will make the difference in the final result of this historic elections.

If you are in Delhi….

You can join the biggest volunteer campaigning program (BUZZ) to flood the streets of Delhi with AAP supporters, who would proudly wear their AAP topis, carry jhadus and placard, and distribute pamphlets to spread the message of AAP in small groups at selected 47 locations. Yes, it is that simple.

Here is how you can join:

1. Come to the metro location closest to you from the selected metro locations (AAP Buzz metro points) published on AAP website. At this location you will be met by an AAP volunteer, provided campaign materials, attached to a small group and sent to one of the selected 47 buzz locations in that area to spread the message of AAP.

2. Visit AAP’s Connaught Place office (41, Hanuman Road, Cannaught Place) or call 85888 33565 for more details.

If you are not in Delhi…

- Please pick up the phone and call the residents of Delhi. Call 7827 227 227 or 1800 200 2160 and seek people's vote for AAP.

Thanks,

Arvind

Dear  Friends,

It is really  heartening to note that Arvind Kejriwal's AAP is doing very well and is likely to win good
number of seats in Delhi Assembly Election. However, it also appears that no single party will be
able to form the Govt.and it would be a case of Hung Assembly. in such a scenario, AAP may be
a king maker. However, Arvind Kejriwal appears be rigid for not supporting any party and  enforcing
re-election, which would be a burden to the exchequer and a wastage of lot of public money.

Therefore, under such situation I feel he should  shun rigidity and be flexible to support a party
which is less corrupt and is inclined to meet the requirement of AAP to a good extent. With this,
he would be able  to put a check on the wrong doings and be helpful in making the system cleaner.
