Before Kings and Rulers

Hello everyone!

 

I have another story for you about our friend Nurgina.  Unfortunately, since I don't speak pelawan well enough to have understood the entirety of her telling of it, but got the details from someone else, I may have some of the details incorrect.  However, the heart of the story remains the same.

 

You all remember the chilling experience Nurgina went through a little over month or so ago?  Well, at the end of it all, the gungurangs [elders] around her area decided they wanted to call a bi'sada' [trible court] to decide "who's god they were going to follow, the pelawan gods, or the american God."  A few weeks or so after that, Nurgina had another brief encounter with Satan's demons.  One night after dark, after everyone in her village had already gone to bed, Nurgina's older brothers were in one of their huts, and they heard someone speaking from Nurgina's hut.  They called over to her and asked who was there that she was talking to.  She said no one was there, and that she was alone, and didn't hear anything.  Thinking it was just their imagination, they soon went to sleep.  Sometime later that night, Nurgina awoke to find her head being pulled back by the hair, and something being forced down her throat.  She spit it out, however, and called out to her brothers for help, and they came rushing in with a light.  Then they prayed and sang hymns and it went away.

 

Afterward, her witchdoctor uncle again wanted to do some magic ritual for her, but she refused again.  What's more, her father said that if anything happens like that again, they shouldn't bother with the magic because it doesn't work, and the only thing that does work is praying to God (the american God).  He also said that at the siburans (the drinking parties they have in honor of the rice god), it's the tuba' (rice wine) and smoke that Satan uses to get into the people.  Nurgina was amazed that her father knew this, and said as much.  Apparently he'd been to church many years ago and had learned those things then.  So these experiences of her's seem to be pulling him back towards Jesus again.  He has not yet begun coming to church, but at least he recognises the power of God over Satan's fellow fallen angels posing as gods to the Pelawans.

 

Since the announcement of the gungerangs' desire to have a bi'sada', we have heard nothing more concerning it.  Until now.  They have finally set a date for it, but have decided that it's not going to be an actual bi'sada' after all.  Instead, it's just going to be an informal gathering of the people to discuss the situation, to hear the details of Nurgina's experiences, and hear about God from her.  I don't know the exact hour for this discussion, however, it's supposed to take place sometime this Friday morning (our time).  That would be Thursday evening in the States.

 

Therefore, I have a request for you all.  Please pray for this whole situation, and for Nurgina in particular, that she will be given the correct words to speak in the time they're needed.  I'm requesting that everyone please pray for her and the meeting from 5pm central time until 11pm.  That will be from 6m-noon our time, and should cover the entire length of the meeting.  Please pray that Nurgina will be given all the right words to say, and that all who hear them will be open and receptive to them, and that their hearts will be touched, that they begin to seek after God for themselves.  If anyone would like to join me in fasting for this occasion,  I will begin my fast at noon the previous day (11pm on Wednesday US central time) and continue until the end of the meeting.
