Dear Volunteers,
I am sorry I have been MIA for a while but things have been pretty
slow in the last period of time.

We are still working on the PakReport platform and I would like for
all of you to know that your hard work has not being forget and that
there is still lot to do.

We have been contacted by OCHA in Pakistan and they asked us to send
someone from PakReport at their cluster meetings so that the
organizations participating can understand better what the platform
can do for them and also so that they can help us in better
customizing our platform to support the international community
working in Pakistan.

I know there are some Pakistani volunteers in this group and I would
like to know if someone from them, namely someone currently in
Islamabad, can eventually become our representative in the field and
go the cluster meetings (they happen ones a week in Islamabad).
Unfortunately our Pakistani team is swamped by work to do and they
cannot go every week, so we thought that someone from here would like
to join the team.

Please, if you do, let me know and I will put you in contact with
Faisal, our director, so that you can coordinate with him.

My best,
Anahi

What others say about us:

Helen Campbell from MapAction:
“We've noticed that you have some good data on village locations for
KP and Sindh, and we are in desperate need for better information on
village locations, so this is perfect! Regards, Helen”

Avril Benoit from MSF:
“Thanks for doing this! Cheers, Avril”

Shah, US State Department:
"We are pleased that Pakistan has a forum for information sharing that
people everywhere can use to engage each other in the flood relief
effort. Information sharing can help connect people to resources to
aid in disaster recovery and to engage one another in problem-
solving."

Maurizio Giuliano, Public Information Officer for the UN Office for
the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), talking about
Pakreport:
“Using their maps, organizations are able to do things such as quickly
get an understanding of the spatial aspects of the emergency,
understand where relief efforts are being undertaken (or not
undertaken), better target their relief efforts, better coordinate
with others, and simply have large reference maps for planning
purposes.”

Maria Vasquez, OCHA Information Management Officer for Sindh Province,
based in Hyderabad.
“I´ve been checking the Ushahidi platform for Pakistan floods since I
was in Colombia and I certainly think that you can support us in many
ways and we can also provide some useful information as well. I am
looking forward to work with you in understanding how to better
customize your platform to the humanitarian community needs”.

Hi,

I hope some one from Islamabad or surrounding area will come up for this task.

I'm based in Lahore, going every week is bit difficult especially if this is on working day, however if no one show up, please consider me. Currently I'm out of country and returning on Nov 6, via Islamabad.

Thanks and Regards
Falik Sher

Hi Anahi,

That definitely is a great idea. Unfortunately, I am also not in Pakistan. But my father, Tariq Ahsan Ali Khan, resides in Islamabad and I am sure he would be more than happy to help. He can be reached at tariqah...@gmail.com.

If you need more information for my father, or want him to contact you, please let me know.

Best,
Mehrin Kiani

Hi Anahi,

I m Islamabad based volunteer but unfortunately could not follow pakreport as such because of some family crisis, but now, by the grace of Allah, i m out of that turmoil. So i'll be more than willing to represent pakreport at OCHA.

Regards,
Asma Rafique

Hi Anahi

I'm based in Islamabad but am working at a development consultancy six days a week. Can attend depending on the timing of the meetings - let me know?

Best
Madeeha
