April Estey Desch Born: April 30, 1946 Died:  October 12, 2017 April Desch Duncan, SC Carolyn “April” Desch, 71, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Born in Washington, DC to the late William Henry Estey and Jane Carolyn (Amos) Estey, April was an only child brought up in a military family. She spent her formative years in Spartanburg, South Carolina, but graduated from Pacific Grove High School (California) since her father was then stationed at Presidio of Monterey. A graduate of San Jose State University, April used her education to become a production planner within the electronics industry during the formative years of Silicon Valley. She was a lifelong member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, proudly celebrating her Golden Rose (50 years of membership) award in June of 2015. April was predeceased by her loving husband of over 40 year, Donald James Desch.  Don and April retired to the home of April’s youth in 2001 and spent many happy years together in Duncan. During their life together, Don and April enjoyed traveling to Europe many times and their other favorite destination was Maui. Survivors include brother-in-law, Jacob John Desch and his wife, Linda of Auburn, California, cousins Judy B. Campbell and Robert C. Babb, both of Spartanburg. April will also be fondly remembered by many neighbors and friends, particularly Brenda Seay of Newport, Tennessee, who took loving care of April’s father in his later years.
