Subject: Epic Memorial Ride (May 1, 2010)
Ride with us in memory of my mom, Anita Zaffke, killed May 2, 2009, in "The Nail Polish Crash" by a driver who was painting her nails while driving.
We will be kicking off MOTORCYCLE & BICYCLE AWARENESS MONTH and honoring all loved ones lost due to the negligent & reckless driving of other motorists in a massive SHARE THE ROAD RALLY after the ride.

In 2006, my mother embarked on her Epic Ride. By herself, she rode her motorcycle for 2 weeks + 5,000 miles, camping, writing her book + taking photographs the whole way, through Yellowstone, up the Oregon Coast through Seattle to Vancouver, BC & back home to Chicago.
She had so much fun on that trip, I can't think of a better way to honor her & all loved ones lost under similar circumstances than with the biggest, most epic memorial ride + awareness rally ever!

All makes & models of MOTORCYCLES, CYCLISTS & even conscientious CAR + TRUCK DRIVERS are welcome so invite as many people as you can! Parade of cars/trucks will go first, bikes will follow.
52-Mile Main Ride (Escorted by Illinois State Police):
1 • Geneva Lakes Greyhound Track in Delavan, WI (I43 + Hwy 50)
2 • Nail Polish Crash site of Old McHenry/Route 12
3 • Paulus Park in Lake Zurich, IL (200 Rand Road)
Registration & Staging - 10:00AM to 12:00PM
Kickstands Up & Wheels Rolling - 12:00PM
Awareness Rally + Concert - 2:00PM to 6:00PM
- Music by Mike Jones (Ride to Live, Live to Ride)
- Accident Scene Management Demonstrations + Training
- Impact Statements from Injured Riders
- Scott Doniger
- "One Legged Blonde" Cat Hammes
- Impact Statements from the Families of Lost Loved Ones
- Memories of Michael Lechner by his mother Rhonda
- Memories of Patrick Mapleson (NYDOT) by his daughter Karen Mapleson
- Memories of Jamilla Simms by her mother Maxine Kelley
- Memories of Adam Miller by his mother Cheryl Miller
- Memories of Anita Zaffke by Greg Zaffke II
- Moment of Silence for Lost Loved Ones - 5:44PM
Bring your appetites and a couple bucks! Culver's of Lake Zurich will be providing an option for food and drinks at the rally. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Black Nail Brigade. Proceeds of the ride + rally will fund the creation of our Roadway Motorist Awareness Program (Road.M.A.P.).
