Dan Lynch will perform at January 4 Song & Story Swap
Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the Pioneer Valley
Folklore Society Song & Story Swap.
Saturday, January 4, 7:00 p.m. at The Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst,
Mass).
Storyteller Dan Lynch will be the featured performer at the January 4 Song &
Story Swap.
Dan Lynch, AKA Storyman Dan, grew up in Lexington, Mass. After a stint in
the navy he became an English teacher at Putnam Tech in Springfield. Toward
the end of his teaching career he met Amherst performing artist John
Porcino, from whom he caught the storytelling bug.
Twenty-five years ago Dan Lynch and Charlie Peck founded the Springfield
Storytellers, which meets every 3rd Friday at 7pm at 1000 Wilbraham Road in
Springfield.
Dan has told stories at The National Storytelling Festival and on New
England Public Radio. Locally he has performed at Luthier's Co-op, Bishop's
Lounge, Thirsty Mind and at 180 in Easthampton. His repertoire includes folk
tales, stories he has written, and big fat lies. At the Song & Story Swap he
will be performing his original tales.

This month's opening round theme is The Early Years. The opening round theme
is The Early Years
Looking ahead to next month, the Song & Story Swap guest for February 1 will
be singer-songwriter Lui Collins, and the opening round theme will be
Language.
The Song & Story Swap is held on the first Saturday of each month, excepting
July and August, and is jointly sponsored by the Pioneer Valley Folklore

The Song & Story Swap is open to the public, free of charge with donations
accepted ($5 - $10 is suggested). People of all ages gather to share
stories and songs that are traditional, newly written, or of personal
experiences. You can tell, sing, or lead everyone in singing, or request a
song or story. Listeners are welcome.
