Further to the Right-Step PT thread, #5, on Sunday 14th September 2025, the world´s first Chemical Canasta championship was held and Jakob Fellner of London emerged a worthy winner after a thrilling game against John Marks of Vienna.
The initial rounds were a see-saw of leap-frogging until about 500 when Marks surged ahead to within reach of the finishing post at 1,000 points. This dramatically reversed when Fellner won a swingeing round and melded Ramsay, Davy and Dalton canastas with his opponent managing just a Lavoisier before Fellner went out, leaving the score at Fellner 915, Marks 921 - with all to play for.
In the final round Marks made a Cavendish meld but was surprisingly wrong-footed by Fellner who also, boldly, made a Cavendish meld, quickly completing a mixed Cavendish canasta and a Döbereiner and going out by melding the the grey blockers. Fellner gained 140 to win on 1055 while Marks lost 60 to end up on 861.

René, Mark & Eric, I have your emails and can send you each a set of chemical canasta for free. Even though you may each balk at the design for varying reasons, it´s good fun. I´d just need a postal address with postcode and a telephone number (required by customs and post in case of delivery problems).
Regards,
John
