Hi Mark,

In case you’re interested, here’s what I know about how the Segrè chart has evolved.

Nuclear chemists began using the Nuclear Wallet Cards, where isotopes are organized by atomic number (Z) and, within each Z, by mass number (A). Each new edition incorporated newly discovered isotopes (essentially the nuclear-chemistry counterpart to adding new elements to the periodic table/spiral):

6th edition (2000): https://www.nndc.bnl.gov/walletcards/doc/wallet-cards-2000-01.pdf

7th edition (2005): https://www.nndc.bnl.gov/walletcards/doc/wallet-cards-2005-04.pdf

8th edition (2011): https://www.nndc.bnl.gov/walletcards/doc/wallet-cards-large-2011-10.pdf

9th edition (2023, current): https://www.nndc.bnl.gov/walletcards/doc/wallet-cards-2023-10.pdf

Building on these and other datasets, the Segrè chart was updated in NuDat 2 (after the 7th edition) and in NuDat 3 (after the current 9th edition). I’ve attached both versions (you have to zoom in order to read each cell).

I also came across a precursor to the Segrè chart of nuclides, which I’ve attached to this email:

The tables span pages 373 to 375, and the line for isotopes of the same element is indicated by the chemical symbol.
