Deione,
In my observation the growth of cat-tails has stabilized in Giloon
Pond. I haven't seen further growth in several years, and a muskrat
family has taken up residence. The ducks and Canada geese seem to like
the pond as it is. Further, it has been designated a wetland area, so
massive removal of cat-tails is probably prohibited under federal law.
If you would like to get on your waders and pull some cat-tails, give
it a try on your own hook. If you would like to pursue the subject
further, you are welcome to come to the Metro District Board meeting
and discuss it. The Board meets the first Thursday of each month at
5PM in the Perry Park Country Club.
