No fireworks display in Perry Park this year

The Perry Park Metro District Board of Directors and the Perry Park
Country Club Board of Directors decided jointly today to cancel the
planned 4th of July fireworks display. The conditions are similar to
those in 2002 when the Hayman fire raged. The Boards feel the danger to
people and property is too high to risk the display. We remind the
residents that currently Douglas County has banned all open fires
including fires in charcoal grilles. The County has also banned private
use of fireworks in the county. Gov. Owens has issued an executive
order banning fireworks on state-owned land.
