Just curious if anyone had been down to the club in a while and if
there is enough water to sail right now 3/17/2009?
I have not been there since last fall and the water was pretty low.
I'm taking tomorrow off to go sailing and am trying to decide whether
to go to POYC or down to KY Lake.

If anyone has any info, let me know.

Thanks,
Tim Hayes

Unfortunately there is not enough water to launch any kind of boat. The
Corps of Engineers closes the dam in April and if we get some rain the Lake
will at least get up to the ramp pretty quickly.

There is a link on the POYC web site (Barren River Lake) that leads to
a lake levels link http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/reports/lkreport.html.

Right now it says 536.1 with summer pool levels of 552, so it is 16
feet down.

It would be nice to know at what level we could launch a boat.

Rob,

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.
I wound up going down to KY Lake and spending the day sailing. It was great. Nice wind all day and I was able to sail several miles down the lake. In the middle of the afternoon the wind kick up to where there were small whitecaps on the lake and my boat was skipping along over the waves. Nice sail!!!
