Sad news: My brother Tim, AL1VE, recently passed away unexpectedly while traveling in the UK with his wife Nancy. Tim was first licensed in 1966 as WN1DJO, in Natick, MA. Over the years, a series of calls followed, until he acquired his prized vanity call. Tim got the DX bug while serving with the US Air Force, much of that at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. More DX from Alaska starting in 1973 at Mt. McKinley National Park. He loved to drive, which led to a 30-year rover career, tens of thousands of cross-country miles, and well over 150 activated grids. He loved designing and building antennas-the lighter and cheaper the better. I know that he really enjoyed being a member of the PNW-VHF community, and appreciated both the contest enthusiasm and the technical advice he got from this group. I was lucky enough to come south occasionally to rove with him for VHF contests, most recently in January 2026. Tim will be missed.
