Update: H44GJ 6M EME DXpedition

Hello 6m DXers!

Now that the summer Es season is ending here in the northern hemisphere, it's time to
turn your antenna toward the moon for another ATNO!

*EQUIPMENT* All the equipment is tested and packed up for departure next week. I am
taking 150' of LMR600 coaxial cable for feedline to make sure I can reach the antenna
wherever I need to put it.

*ANTENNA SITE* I am still hoping I can set up the antenna on the beach at the
northeast corner of Lola Island, but that beach is very narrow and very well may not
provide enough clearance to steer the antenna. Trees, guy line placement, the lagoon
itself and/or other obstructions may prevent operation at certain azimuths and/or
elevations and details will only be available after arrival at the site.

If I AM able to locate the antenna on the beach, I will be operating from the gift
shop in the main lodge, and will have real-time internet that will allow me to
monitor the *ON4KST EME CHAT <https://www.on4kst.org/chat/login.php>* page while I am
operating EME. If I have to set up somewhere else, I may be limited to internet when
I can take my laptop to the main lodge after my EME activity. More information will
be available after I arrive and get set up.

*NEW SOFTWARE* I am very pleased to report that N6NU and DG2YCB have developed an
updated version of WSJT-X IMPROVED that will enable me to identify callers who are
copying me at a given time. This will allow me to concentrate on callers when they
are copying me, which should be a HUGE advantage by making faster contacts! The only
requirements are that everyone must have real-time internet access and use the newest
version of WSJT-X IMPROVED - please download it here after August 18:

The revised program does not require any new user settings or procedures. Just call
as usual using Q65-60A with the Q65 Pileup option. I will do my best to have
real-time internet on my end to make the most of this amazing new version!

*IONOSPHERIC DISTURBANCES *There is every reason to believe that there will be some
local weather problems, geomagnetic disturbances, interference from high TEC regions,
one-way propagation from Faraday Rotation or other challenges. That is why I have
scheduled such a long trip - hopefully we can still complete with all the dedicated
callers by outlasting these challenges.
