Perseids first try

Curious about MSK-144, I kept 50.260 on 24/7 during the Perseids. (I am in CN86dq, out here on the coast in Raymond, WA.) Didn’t attempt a QSO — my antenna is only an omni halo — but made a few decodes that sure looked like meteor scatter.

They included: KC7IMD, CN85 (OR); N7ONF, DN55 (MT); N7MVW (UT); KE4TH DN40 (UT)l WH6CPT (ID); KD7DO. CN88; W7HRD, DN43 (AZ); VE7US (AB); W7HRF, DN43 (ID); N4SL, DN28 (MT); K7BWH, CN71 (WA); WB0NRV, DN70 (CO); WB7UNV, DN17 and K7KX DN56 (CA).

Also heard a bunch of locals, including, of course, Paul K7CW, undoubtedly by ground wave.

Learned a lot. Noticed that much DX occurred up to three hours *after* local sunrise.

When the Leonids roll around, I might actually try keying up! Hi.

Did you hear anything ~0248pdt on Sunday when the huge “blue wizzer” went by Seattle? We saw the trail on our Ring security camera from Cn87tw in Clinton, WA.

It is my understanding that if the meteors are in viewing distance you won't be able to effectively get the RF to/ from the trail.  They have to be several hundred to a thousand miles away.

Yes, I believe Eric is right. At least, I didn’t notice anything spectacular at that time Sunday.  Of course, I was asleep at the time! But when I read the decodes in the morning, most of the action had occurred around 0400-0800 local.
