Today's work:

L Band Amp.jpg

MGF0905A with 8dB gain and Pout 34dBm. I need ti build the bias for the gate and then I'm ready to test. I'm building one more hoping I can get it to work at 900 MHz as well.

The top of the board is not straight. The Board came lose while cutting. I also need to find a source of cobber for the cooling.

And her eis a picture of the board with the Gali 84+ MMIC. This one covers DC to 7GHz

Nice looking board and construction.  That new etching machine is doing wonderful things.

I like the compactness of this design Frank,

Good job,

Nick

Frank,
So you are using the GALI-84 as a driver for the MGF0905A?  What supply voltages do you need?

Look good Frank,nice and simple.

How will all the grounds be connected, just through the SMA connectors? The one capacitor currently looks isolated.

What size of copper spreader will you need?

Hi Fred,

The Gali 84+ version I have to versions. One that is only connected through the SMAs and one where I have added home made VIAs. I see no difference when I measure power output. They are powered with 5V from a USB charger.

The size of the board is 20x40mm. I don't think I need to have more than 2-3mm thick sheet of copper that is about 20x30mm or roughly 1"x1"x1/8". It might even work with a small aluminum heat sink like Rod suggested.
