Social dancing in West Philly this week will be at St. Mary's Church Parish Hall tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 14) if you're into West Coast Swing, and at West Philly Ballroom & Latin Dance on Friday, Aug. 16 if salsa is your preference.   

1.  Wednesday, Aug. 14

What:  West Coast Swing Dance hosted by UCSwing

Where:  St. Mary's Church Parish Hall, 3916 Locust Walk, Penn Campus

Time:  Lesson from 8:30 PM to 9:15 PM; social dancing from 9:15 PM to 11 PM

Admission:  $5 with a student ID; $7 for everyone else; FREE for first timers

2.  Thursday, Aug. 15

What:  Bachata Thursdays (21+)

Where:  Lucha Cartel, 207 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA 19106

Time:  10 PM to 2 AM

Admission:  $6

3.  Friday, Aug. 16

What:  Salsa Party

Where:  West Philly Ballroom & Latin Dance, 4520 Baltimore Ave., Phila.

Time:  8:30 PM to 12:30 AM (Mini-lessons plus social dancing)

Admission:  $12

If you have a PennCard, the best way to get there may be via Penn Transit (215-898-RIDE/7433).  You could also take SEPTA's 34 trolley.

4.  Friday, Aug. 16

What:  Salsa & Bachata (21+)

Where:  Field House, 1150 Filbert Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107

Time:  9 PM to 1 AM

Admission:  $8

5.  Sunday, Aug. 18

What:  Bachata & Salsa at The Rocky Steps

Where:  2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19130
Time:  6 PM to 8 PM

Admission:  FREE
