Every year for the past dozen or so years, a group of alums and undergrad members of the Penn Glee Club have met in New York and descended on Rockefeller Center on Christmas Eve to regale the gathered throng with PGC Christmas carols (and some other holiday music). This year we're doing it again, and (as always) all of you are invited.
To quote Mark Glassman (and myself when I sent out this same email a couple years ago): "This is a really fun tradition. It's one of those nights in which you say to yourself, 'I am so lucky to be a singer,' or, if you're Ben Winter, 'I am so lucky to know singers.'"
The tentative plan is for us to meet up at 5:30pm, location in Manhattan TBD. We'll warm up for awhile, grab a bite to eat, and go to the Rockefeller Center. The caroling itself is usually over by 10pm, but we invariably go to a bar afterward to cap off the evening.
Please let me know if you think you'll be able to make it. If you don't live up in NYC but want to join us, no problem - we'll find a couch for you to crash on. Just let me know 1) if you can make it; and 2) whether you'll need housing for the evening.
I highly encourage any of you who can make it to join us. This has become a Christmas tradition for many Glee members and alumni, and it's an absolute blast every time. Hope all is well, and I hope to see many of you in 29 days!
Cheers,
Matt
