Hello everyone,

Our esteemed GCGC President, Robert Biron, will soon be sending out a formal New Year's greeting to all of the PGC alumni, but I wanted to take a moment to wish a Happy New Year to the nearly 40 of you who have signed up for this listserv!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to lay out a few suggestions for using the GCGC listserv.  Note that these are "suggestions" and not "rules" - this is after all your listserv.

- Stay in touch!  The main reason I set up this Google Group and corresponding listserv is so that we all would have a way to stay in touch with each other and stay up-to-date on the goings-on of your GCGC friends.  So let people know if something new and exciting is going on in your life - heck, it doesn't even have to be exciting!  This is the best way to stay in touch with your Glee Club friends who you don't get to see too often, so please take advantage of it.

- Organize get-togethers!  One of the main hopes of the GCGC board is that GCGC members will take the initiative to organize smaller group outings and events outside the official GCGC receptions.  It can be something as simple as "I'm going to a concert tomorrow night.  Does anybody want to join me?"

(Below are the two suggested "don'ts" of the listserv - I'll leave it in your capable hands to determine how to use the listserv)

- Keep it Safe for Work.  Bear in mind that many people will probably be accessing their email from work, so don't send out any links that might raise too many eyebrows.  However, it is perfectly acceptable to send funny or interesting articles over the listserv - so long as you don't send too many emails.  For instance, I thought you might all enjoy this little gem that I saw on CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/11/portugal.evilmachines.ap/index.html
(Mark Glassman - perhaps you could write a singing talking meter into the show this year?)

- Try not to overpost.  Sending out links and update is the whole point of the listserv, but try to be sure you don't send so many emails that you're clogging people's inboxes or using the listserv as a personal soapbox.

That's all for now - I hope you all had a Happy New Year, and I hope to see many of you at the NYC performance in a couple weeks and/or at the Spring Show next month!

Cheers,
Matt

PS - Just a reminder: To send something over the listserv, just send an email to PGCalumn...@googlegroups.com
