Out of Afghanistan NOW!
Healthcare NOT Warfare!

President Obama will speak at a campaign rally for Governor Corzine this
Wednesday at FDU. Military Families Speak Out, Bergen County invited the
President to stop at our Wednesday vigil in Teaneck or to meet elsewhere, but
his staff member called to say he was unable to meet with us on Wednesday.
Members of the President’s staff met with MFSO members last summer at the White
House. We believe that it’s a critical time for the President himself to meet
with military families, veterans, and other members of the public, as he is
considering whether or not to expand the war in Afghanistan. It is our sons and
daughters, it is our loved ones in the military whose lives are on the
line.
Taxpayers in
Bergen County, New Jersey have paid $1.3 billion for Afghanistan war spending
since 2001. For the same amount of money, our government could provide 118, 879
people with health care for one year, roughly $11,000 per person! (www.nationalpriorities.org)
881 US troops (www.icasualties.org) and
many thousands of Afghani civilians have been killed. Thousands have been
injured. According to a CNN poll in September, 57% of the American public now
oppose the war in Afghanistan. Speak out against the war!
Join military families, veterans, and
other residents of North Jersey to say no to the war in
Afghanistan! Bring
friends and neighbors. Help carry long banners saying “Out of Afghanistan NOW!
Healthcare not warfare!”
Sponsored by Military Families Speak Out,
Bergen County, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, North Jersey and Veterans for
Peace, Chapter 21 NJ
The 218th consecutive vigil will also be held
on Wednesday at the National Guard Armory in Teaneck, from 4:30-6:00
pm.
