Providence College 2025 Softball Schedule - Get ready to shake...AND...bake

Friars, Countrymen,

Our 2025 schedule is locked in. Let's get into it. Today we're covering: 

• The schedule - 12 games, 7 division 5 non. 
  
• The field situation - We will play on Ohio Drive when possible. It will not always be possible. 
• New Groupchat Incoming- We are making a new Whatsapp group for gameday comms and RSVPs  
• General reminders and expectations - Please RSVP to the games, sign the waiver, etc.

Similar to last year - we play all 7 other teams in our division (Auburn, Florida, UNC, Boston College, Catholic, Northwestern and UMASS) and 5 non-division games (Tulane, UCLA, G*orgetown, Villanova  and Xavier) totaling 12 total games on the season. You must play in 4 or more to qualify for the tourney in August. There was a lot of speculation in the media during the off-season about the Big East Tournament being "cancelled" because "Providence" keeps "winning", but we're happy to put those to rest. It's back, it's in July, it's on a Saturday, and it's going to be hype. We will also have another Saturday double-header in June. The haters are trembling. 

The Field Situation

West Potomac Park continues to be under an absurd amount of construction throughout the season, with limited access to fields 3,4,5, and 6. We'll do our best to book them, but we'll be competing with every other CAN team and assorted other DC Leagues (what Rumsfeld would call the "unknown unknowns") to grab those permits. Expect to play a few games at some fun DC Parks again - the fields by Nats Park, Guy Mason, King Greenleaf, etc.  if you have an alternative field suggestion that's easy for people to get to, we're open to suggestions. 

New Groupchat

The LeagueApps RSVP system isn't coming back and tracking RSVPs through email is brutal, so we're standing up a new WhatsApp for scheduling stuff and RSVPs. "God's People" is fantastic (and not going anywhere), but we need a way to easily get at our active roster. If you are not confident we have your cell phone number and you plan on playing games with us this season, please respond to this email with your cell #. 

Additional Reminders/ Admin things

• We will do a practice a week or two before our first game to shake the nonexistent rust off our expertly-toned physiques, location TBD.
• The waiver  acknowledging the inherent risk in softball and stating that you won't sue CAN or the National Park Service is available at this link . Sign it Or Else. No waiver, no play. 
• Dues are expected to come in around $60 again. Dues can be paid in cash or venmo to Patrick (@paddyshmurda, it was a lot funnier in 2014). We will bump the exact number when our numbers are final.
• If you ordered a jersey last year and haven't received it yet, I've got it in mint condition in its original packaging. 
• We have a few new joiners this year, which we're excited about. So a sincere welcome to all of the rookies. 
• Tourney is a week EARLIER this year than last year, kicking off the very first weekend in August on 8/2.
• NPS prohibits the consumption of alcohol on their administered grounds. The horse cops (cop horses?) have been quite active recently. Do with this information what you will, knowing that our entire team is penalized for alcohol-related infractions.
