VIRUS ALERT - NEW VIRUS IN THE WILD
Virus infections from a new variant of the Trojan.Gen virus have been confirmed in TCO, EMEAE, and the US.
At approximately 2:00AM PST (17:00 WIB or 18:00 WITA/Manila/Singapore time) on Friday, March 5th, 2010, workstations in TCO, EMEAE and the US were being infected with the Trojan.Gen virus. This virus spreads via email attachments.
CIRT was notified of this new variant, and worked with Symantec to obtain updated definitions. Definitions for Symantec Anti-Virus dated March 5th (Rev.3 or later) will successfully detect and eliminate the threat. ITC has updated the central Symantec Servers with the new current definitions, and they are currently being distributed to all the clients. CIRT is continuing to work with IT Support Staff to identify and clean up infected systems.
Do not open email or attachments with any of the following subject lines, regardless of who sent the email (known or unknown):
· “Jessica would like to be your friend on HI5”
· “Thank you from Google”
· “Shipping update for your Amazon.com order 254-71546325-658732”
· “You have received a Hallmark e-card!”
· “Your friend invited you to Twitter”
Should you discover any infected or suspected machine, please contact your local IT Help Desk (or IBU IT Service Desk at ext. 14848 for Indonesia users).

WASPADA VIRUS KOMPUTER BARU
Penyebaran varian baru dari virus komputer Trojan.Gen telah ditemukan melanda TCO, EMEAE dan US.
Pada sekitar jam 2:00AM PST (17.00 WIB atau 18.00 WITA) hari Jumat, 5 Maret 2010, komputer-komputer di TCO, EMEAE dan US terserang virus komputer Trojan.Gen. Virus ini tersebar melalui lampiran (attachment) email.
Kejadian ini sudah dieskalasi ke Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), dan mereka sudah bekerja sama dengan Symantec untuk mendapatkan penangkal yang terbaru. Penangkal dari Symantec Anti-Virus tertanggal 5 Maret (Rev.3 atau yang lebih baru) akan dapat menangkal dan melenyapkan ancaman virus ini. ITC sudah meng-update server Server Symantec yang ada di Chevron dengan penangkal yang terbaru ini, dan saat ini penangkal ini sedang disebarkan ke semua komputer GIL. CIRT terus bekerjasama dengan IT Support untuk terus mengidentifikasi dan membersihkan sistem-sistem komputer yang terkena.
Untuk mencegah menyebarnya virus ini, JANGAN membuka email atau lampiran (attachment) email dengan subject berikut (walaupun dari seseorang yang kita kenal):
· “Jessica would like to be your friend on HI5”
· “Thank you from Google”
· “Shipping update for your Amazon.com order 254-71546325-658732”
· “You have received a Hallmark e-card!”
· “Your friend invited you to Twitter”
