Bayswater Park (32nd Street & Beach Channel Drive)
This community event will include presentations, demonstrations and information on a wide variety of green, local solutions to the current climate crisis. Examples include a talk on renewable energy led by Sane Energy, a farming workshop led by Culinary Kids, an introduction to local worker-owned cooperatives presented by WORCS, information on how to access local vacant lots with 596 Acres, presentations by international climate justice ambassadors, and more. We will have a performance by a local youth hip hop dance troupe, live music, participatory artwork and a bouncy castle for kids!
The Climate Justice Bash is being held the weekend before the historic People's Climate March. It will serve to both raise awareness of climate change and climate justice, generate productive discussion around local resilience, and mobilize residents of the Rockaways to the march the following weekend. This family-friendly day in the park will be a great time to have fun, learn about what's happening in our community and reserve a seat on the buses that Rockaway Wildfire and Community Voices Heard are providing to and from the People' Climate March, free of charge!
