Rockaway Wildfire dance party fundraiser - this Friday, September 19th!

Hi Friends!

The People's Climate March is just 5 days away.  And as we gear up for the biggest climate march in history, come party with Rockaway Wildfire, a member-led grassroots community organization that focuses on social, economic and environmental justice in the Rockaways, one of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy.  Come get your jams on this Friday, September 19th at Starr Studios, 207 Starr St, Bushwick, Brooklyn (near the Jefferson St L).

At 7PM come get “classy" with cocktails and hors d' oeuvres. We will have a brief program, including a short film about our campaign to develop a Community Benefits Agreement. Learn about our work to bring social, economic and climate justice to the Rockaways. Meet and mingle with interesting, fun folk.

Starting at 9PM get “nasty" as the DJ kicks in. Wear your dancing shoes!  Starting at 9pm, there is a suggested donation of $15 at the door, with one complimentary drink.  More info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1459163534357695/

I've been working with this community for the past two years, because Hurricane Sandy reminded me that climate change is real, its happening now and its deadly serious.  And it reminded me that those who hardest hit by it are often marginalized communities who so often lack a voice in what happens to their communities.
