In last week meeting, a group of us proposed turning PCBS into a social
group where we meet and have lunch together once per week. There has
been tension in our meetings especially when discussing controversial
topics. As a result, some people's feelings were hurt and they thought
that this group should be turned into a social group not a Bible study.
I'm not in charge of the group and I do not intend to be. Consequently,
it is up to you how this group is going.
Shenoda proposed that we read the Bible from now on just as the same we
used to do when we first started meeting.
My personal opinion is that turning PCBS into a social group defies why
I joined the group in the first place. Reading the Bible would be more
beneficial to me because it makes me understand It better when I discuss
it with other people. The richness of this group in my opinion is that
we do NOT belong to the same church so we can together reach a better
understanding of the Bible and spiritual depth. Thus I favor Shenoda's
idea.
Email us all what you think about this issue.
May Jesus Christ be with you all and bless your life!

Lately, I've been raising concerns about our group's direction and
dynamics. In my opinion, it is a blessing to have an space to talk
with fellow christians both about matters of faith and issues that
affect how we live our lives as a consequence of it. So, I ask you my
brothers and sisters to forgive me for any action that may have
disturbed the good going of the group. I see it as a way of growing in
the understanding and love of Christ teachings, and it is up to us to
fullfill that purpose.
I do not think we should make it a mere social act, since it is not
what makes our group unique.
I have now only 3 suggestions:
- Start and end all our group meetings with a prayer. Pray for each of
us, for our group and for the unity of all Christians. If we, who are a
few, can not get along, we cannot expect for the whole Christian
community, which is an enormous amount of people, to do so.
- Make an effort to make this a good experience for everyone and keep
our tempers in check, following Christ's teachings in Matthew 5, 22:
"But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to
judgment, and whoever says to his brother, 'Raqa,' will be answerable
to the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to
fiery Gehenna."
- Use one of the following meetings to read and talk about the Sermon
of the Mountain and what can we do to follow Jesus' advice there,
specially in the context of our group.
Hope to see you all tomorrow at lunch,
Jose
I agree to Lory's opinion & Jose's suggestions, if I am to have an opinion.
God willing I will be there tomorrow for lunch, in Christ!
Love you all!
