Just came from the Gorhams Corner Roundabout meeting. Surprised only George Rheault were the only PBPAC folks there. At 5 pm, therefore three people in the room. A whole contigent from Pleasant Street showed up.  They had issues with the actual constraints schedule and plans.  Some raw notes below.

Sewer Separation
Storm drain replacement
Watermain replacement

Pedestrian accessibility and safety
Intersection efficency

Work will entail a 42 inch outfall from fish pier to commercial street from Maple Street to Center Street

Sewer separation on Center Street

Pleasant Street Sewer pipe  and waterline replacement

Watermain replacement throughout the area.

Total replacement of Northside of the Pleasant Street sidewalk

Bidding 2026

Construction Late 2026 or 2027

Completion 2028

One attendee asked for compensation for the local business impacts.

Another wanted to know if the city would provide alternative free parking locations.

Hopefully the City will post the presentation slides from the public meeting on the project page:  Center Street Sewer Separation & Gorham's Corner Mini Roundabout Project | Portland, ME - Official Website

The most important ones were the turning templates of semi tractor trailers and other oversized vehicles.

To use the mini-roundabout they will have to take advantage of the "mountable curbing" that will be installed in the center.  As Jeremiah Bartlett explained, vehicles (big or small) traveling over the mountable curbing will have to slow considerably as driving onto mountable curbing will damage any vehicle doing so at regular speeds.  Hopefully the mountable curbing can be resilient enough to take the regular abuse.

The Portland Fire Department is also a big fan of this project.  They apparently are as upset as everyone else about how dysfunctional this area is for getting through - whether or not on an emergency basis.

I wonder if there will be a public comment drop box or survey?
I don't see one...
