Hi Sarah. Thanks for the quick response. Others will have a better answer but I’d say the vast majority is DoT purview (and Commercial Street is a DoT road—not sure about Saint John) but I think the crosswalks at Valley & Saint John are probably city responsibility. That being said, I think the city usually plays a role as a local partner. It would be good to address the low-hanging fruit.
Best,
Zack

Hi Winston,

I appreciate you sharing the report, and thanks as always for the PBPAC's advocacy.

Are the issues PBPAC has identified entirely under MDOT's purview, or are there items the City could address independently?

Best,
Sarah

Dear Mathew Drost, Maine DOT Southern Byways Coordinator, Portland City Manager West, Mayor Dion, Members of the Portland City Council, Assorted legislators,

Members of the Portland Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee have put together a report on the current state of bicycle and Pedestrian infrastructure along the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

It is also attached as a PDF.

It highlights a few issues, both lack of Maintenance and design related, which should be resolved so that everyone can be safe.

Thank you for your hard work keeping Portland and the State of Maine safely moving about,
