Hi folks,

PBPAC will be holding our general meeting next Monday, September 8, at 7pm on Zoom. We've got quite a few unfinished items on the agenda - finalizing the Park Ave report, prep for the council + candidate ride, officer elections, and potential bylaw amendments - so it should be a good meeting!

See you next week!

Hi all, I won't be able to join the meeting tonight due to a work conflict. But I wanted to share the proposed route for the Electeds/Candidates ride coming up on Saturday, October 4 at 10am.

Looking forward to seeing folks tonight on Zoom!

We've discussed in a number of meetings our desire to broaden the reach, engagement, and impact of this group.

Tonight we will discuss recruiting five District Captains! These folks would:
  1. Coordinate efforts to improve bike ped infrastructure in your district / neighborhoods. This could mean leading the work yourself, organizing subcommittees for streets or intersections, endorsing the work of members in your neighborhood, recruiting volunteers for projects, etc.
  2. Take the lead on engaging with city council and school board members in their district on policy issues or neighborhood issues
  3. Engage with other organizations that are working in your neighborhood
  4. Recruit new members to the listserv, our meetings, or activities
  5. Serve on the Executive Committee of PBPAC in some fashion
This looks like a long list, but we are very open-minded about the exact approach that each Captain will take, and how much time each of them will invest. It can ebb and flow with the seasons and your availability.

We will discuss in more detail tonight, and will be taking your ideas and suggestions to improve this concept! We'll soon be asking for folks to volunteer as well!

Looking forward to it.

Best regards,

Myles Smith
Vice Chair, PBPAC

Hi Myles et al.,

I cannot attend tonight's meeting. If it is helpful, I could put a "recruiting" post in this week's Nason's Corner Neighborhood Association newsletter and Facebook seeking candidates for the district PBPAC rep. Please let me know if this would be helpful.

Thanks and have a great meeting.

Maya

Hello Maya and thanks for the offer!

When we are set on the offer and expectations, we will put out an announcement that we will ask members to spread far and wide.

Thanks!
Myles

Here is the meat of my proposed addition to the new Board Officiers section of the bylaws that introduces "District Leaders":

"Likewise, members of like-minded affinity groups or organizations may serve as Community Liaisons, who shall have the same rights and responsibilities as the District Leaders."

Thanks all.

Hi all,

Was glad to be able to listen in last night, sorry to not be more talkative! Wondering what the process would be to identify/nominate the district chairs, I'd potentially be interested in being more involved that way.

Thanks,

Luke
