Hi all, it looks like the sharrows were installed at the wrong location at the USM roundabout, on the extreme right of the lane. This implies that cars should overtake bikes in the roundabout, which strikes me as very dangerous, and definitely not the way traffic should be operational through the intersection. I saw several other bikes ride through just now in the center of the lane as intended by the design. But there's no guarantee some cyclists will not operate as such.

I believe this poses enough of a hazard to warrent a correction.

Yes, total thumbs down on placement of those sharrows. I get that if they are placed in the correct location, the paint will wear off in no time. However, no marking is better than what’s there now.

I don't know how they came to be placed there, but I feel like it's a distinct possibility it could have been a paint contracting employee with no special training in bicycle transportation, not paying close attention to the drawings (if there were any) and making an assumption that of course they should be at the side, because everyone knows that's where the bikes go.

Yes, I would also assume it was a poorly-informed contractor.

This is a couple of blocks from my house and I and my family ride through the middle of the lane every time. To be honest, I hadn’t even noticed that they were at the edge because I wouldn’t dream of riding in that part of the circle.

It should be fixed as we know there are many suburban drivers coming through that intersection who are not used to, or respectful of, cyclists sharing public streets.
