Subject: Changes at MaineDOT

Good morning everyone,

While I’m aware that some of you have already received this information, I have been negligent in formally notifying everyone on this distribution of some recent changes here at MaineDOT.

I needed to let all of you know that effective March 31, 2018 I accepted a promotion within MaineDOT and will no longer hold the Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs Coordinator Position.   I will still be working within the Bureau of Planning, but have accepted the position of Regional Planner.   At least short-term, I am helping out with MaineDOT Regions 4 & 5 but early in June, one of the other planners will be retiring and I will begin providing coverage to the entire state.   We are exploring service delivery alternatives for these positions, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens longer term for the exact coverage area.

Just yesterday afternoon, the BikePed Position posted and we will be accepting applications through May 15th and hope to hire my replacement sometime over the summer.   Until then, I will also remain working on BikePed issues with local communities and organizations.   I will also be mentoring and training the new person once they’ve been hired.   Please share the attached announcement with any qualified individuals of which you are aware.   Your help in encouraging exceptional candidates is greatly appreciated.

Since I accepted the new position, I have talked with many of you and I want to reiterate that while my role within the Department is changing, my commitment to improving safety and ensuring that both bikes and peds have appropriate transportation facilities will not waver and most assuredly will continue into my new position.

I have enjoyed working alongside each of you and am anxious to continue these efforts.    Please feel free to give me a call if there are projects or issues you’d like to discuss.   Thanks everyone for everything!   We’ll talk soon!
