I have two almost identical PB 520c. One is more banged up, with 20 mb
RAM and OS 8.1. The other is in great condition, with 36 mb RAM and OS
7.6.1, but I can't get either to run off battery power. They both
recognize and charge one of my batteries, but won't run off it alone,
or boot from it. Makes them a lot less usable.

If you think yours is banged up, you should see mine. The cover that
goes over the microphone at the bottom of the screen is held on with
masking tape. The floppy drive is broken because a stupid disk got
stuck in there. My batteries don't work either. I wish they did. This
is my only computer right now, because my PC died (I used that for
e-mail). I guess that's what I get for trying to use a NAPA TAMS with
Windows 98. I like Macs much better, but now that my PC died, I use
alot of PC software (my PowerBook is the only Mac we own) so I will
have to get a PC laptop off of ebay. I bought my PowerBook off ebay for
$12.50. By the way, Windows 98 sucks! (All versions of Windows do.)

I got mine for free, and the second off another mac user for $20. If
your floppy drive is stuck, try this - I stuck a butter knife under the
disc while I was trying to eject it to help ease it out. Try this at
your own risk, of course. It worked for me but it might electrocute
you! ;)

By the time I got it unstuck, it wrecked the drive heads.
