I drink 'em so you don't have to, folks!

I'm still on the hunt for a pleasant, inexpensive champagne for
everyday celebrations. So far, the one consistent winner has been the
St. Hillaire sparkling wine sold at the State Stores for a song.

So I bought a bottle of Domaine Ste. Michelle Blanc de Blancs over the
summer and cracked it open the other night for a change of pace from
our usual whites. It was twelve dollars, and sad to say, worth it.

The taste was a little metallic while the mouthfeel was cloying. Not a
great combination. The upsides? It wasn't too heavy and did have a
nice citrus undertaste. It was drinkable, but nothing I'd want to have
in the fridge again.

Anyone else have a favorite cheap champers? New Years' Eve is coming
up so soon enough you'll see a hundred recommendations on what to try.
In addition to the Saint Hillaire we have some Mumm, some Moet et
Chandon, and an inexpensive Spanish cava in the rack right now.
