Mezcla is Spanish for "mix" which I'm sure you either knew already or
didn't want to know. However, the other night we tried the Bodega
Norton "Privada" 2004 - a mix of Malbec (Argentina's best grape),
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Now I think I know what folks mean when
they say "fruit bomb" - the first taste of it was a powerful
experience, neither cloying nor jammy, just a good solid taste.

Here's what Wine Spectator had to say when they gave it a 90 rating:
90 pts Wine Spectator 11/30/06
Goes for the gusto, with a very ambitious helping of bacony toast to go
with its layers of fig, plum and currant fruit. Shows licorice, loam
and spice on the thickly textured finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec
and Merlot. Best from 2007 through 2009. 1,000 cases imported.

(Mmmm, bacony toast... and although I don't always agree with their
scoring they do describe it better than I can).

I'm finding the stuff online for $17-20 and the State Stores have it
for $12.99 so it seems like a pretty good deal. I did notice, the next
day, that oxidation had taken the edge off of it a bit so cellaring it
for a year or two might be a good call as well.

Here's the LCB's link to it:

Their system indicates that they seem to have a lot of this left at the
Premium Collection stores, which means I'll probably grab a bottle or
two more before it's too late.
